DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE (DEM) - SINGAPORE GENERAL HOSPITAL

Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is one of the oldest and largest public hospitals in Singapore. The new DEM building will allow extensive renovations to the existing Acute Care Hospital, and will house these functions of approximately 15 years.

The new building will house 3 levels of emergency services, 4 emergency wards, 3 floors of acute medical wards, neuroscience outpatient clinic, 2 floors of administrative space and a below-grade centralized mortuarty for the entire campus. The building has 12 above-grade storeys and 2 subterranean levels that can be retained or expanded for its initital uses after renovations to the Acute Care Facility are completed, or converted to a new mix of uses.

The building will also include a Hospital Decontamination Station (HDS) to support mass casualy incidents where there may be exposure to hazardous materials. It will be located on the expanded and extended platform linking the new DEM building to the existing Actute Care facility.
