The underlying design guidelines are a result of literature and research. The 'care neighbourhood' is a neighbourhood on its own. The threshold to go outside is kept as low as possible i.a. due to the use of low rise buildings.
The neighbourhood consist of 4 groups of 2 houses that are placed along an axis with landmarks to enhance clarity and visibility. The 8 houses are placed underneath the dunes, and open up to it's landmark to add in recognition.
The houses consist of 1 head where the living room is situated and a tail with 6 bedrooms. inside the houses the residents are manipulated with light by placing a solar chimney above each door. As people are instinctively attracted to light (survival instinct) the residents will be automatically drawn to here.
The solar chimney also acts for natural ventilation. The air is supplied through ground tubes and is fed through a green wall or a greenhouse to the living room.
Between the home there are gardens to stimulate the senses, to maintain social contact and to contribute to a sense of time and space.
